An ugly Hanukkah sweater for the first night needs to be in your house by the afternoon of December 4. Even the U.S. Postal Service flags the early date on its 2026 holiday shipping deadlines page: Please note that Hanukkah (Dec. 4 — Dec. 12) is earlier this year so please adjust accordingly.

The first night and the eighth night both fall on a Friday this year. Chabad.org’s menorah-lighting guide explains that on a Friday the Hanukkah lights are kindled early, before the Shabbat lights, so a sweater for a Friday-night photo is needed even earlier in the day than usual.
