Will GTA 6 Come to PC? What’s Confirmed (and What’s Only Rumor)

Mouse hand getting twitchy? Welcome, patient PC pilgrim — let’s sort what’s real from what’s only rumor! No, GTA 6 won’t be on PC at launch, and as of , Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version at all. To play on November 19 you’ll need a console, so here are PS5 consoles and Xbox Series X|S consoles on Amazon if you’re thinking of buying one for launch. Everything else you’ve seen about a PC date is a report, an opinion or a guess, and we’ll sort out which is which.
Short answer: No. As of November 5, 2026, GTA 6 is announced only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, a PC date or PC requirements. GamesBeat reported a first-quarter 2027 PC release from four anonymous sources, but neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed it.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Officially, there’s no GTA 6 PC version yet. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for , and PC isn’t on it. That doesn’t mean a PC version will never come. It means nobody official has announced one.
The nearest thing to an official comment came on , on Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call. Brian Pitz of BMO Capital Markets asked about the framework for the PC release.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick called PC “a great market,” then said: Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for console only so far.
In the same answer he said virtually all of our hit titles
end up on other platforms over time, which is the Motley Fool transcript’s wording with a word apparently missing after “all.” That’s a hint about how Take-Two’s games usually travel. It isn’t a promise about GTA 6.
- Official, from Rockstar: GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC isn’t listed.
- On the record: Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick said GTA 6 is announced
for console only so far
(May 21, 2026). Xbox’s Matthew Ball said the game won’t streamexclusively or to PC
(October 7, 2026). - Rumor, not confirmed: GamesBeat reported the first quarter of 2027 from four anonymous sources (October 13, 2026). Analyst Michael Pachter said
about 6 or 7 months
(October 2026). - Not announced: a PC version, a PC date, PC requirements, a Steam or Epic Games Store page, or crossplay.
Why isn’t GTA 6 coming to PC at launch?
Take-Two’s explanation is that Rockstar serves its core audience first, and that means console players. VICE’s Brent Koepp reported on May 4, 2026, on Strauss Zelnick’s interview with Bloomberg, where Zelnick said:
Rockstar always starts on console because I think, with regard to a release like that, you’re judged by serving the core.
Zelnick added: If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best. You kind of don’t hit your other consumers.
VICE says Zelnick also confirmed that Sony has marketing exclusivity for GTA 6 on PS5. Asked whether that deal played a part in the PC wait, he said: No. I mean, historically, Rockstar’s gone to console first.
When is the GTA 6 PC release date?
There is no official GTA 6 PC release date. The date you keep seeing, the first quarter of 2027, comes from one press report built on anonymous sources. Until Rockstar posts a date on its Newswire, treat every GTA 6 PC date as a rumor, including the ones below.
What did GamesBeat report about GTA 6 on PC?
GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release GTA 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027. In GamesBeat’s report of October 13, 2026, updated October 14, Alexander Lee credited four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans,
all anonymous, and wrote: A Rockstar Games representative did not respond to a request for comment prior to the publication of this article.
That’s a real report from a named outlet, so it’s worth knowing about. It still isn’t an announcement. The same article says the GTA 6 PC version will have to pass the same quality bar as the console version of the game before Rockstar pushes it live,
so even the report leaves room for the date to move.
What do analysts say about a GTA 6 PC release?
Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter says GTA 6 will reach PC in about half a year. Insider Gaming’s Andrew Highton reported on October 28, 2026, that Pachter told the BBC: in about 6 or 7 months it will come out on PC.
Pachter doesn’t say whether he’s counting from the interview or from launch, so by our arithmetic that’s anywhere from late April to mid-June 2027. It’s one analyst’s opinion, not an announcement.
Have GTA 6 PC rumors been wrong before?
Yes. In February 2025, an executive at the PC hardware maker Corsair gave a GTA 6 PC date that didn’t happen. Dexerto’s Brianna Reeves reported on February 16, 2025, that Ronald van Veen, Corsair’s VP of Finance and IR, said on an earnings call: My understanding now [is that] it’s going to come out in the fall for console, and then early ’26 for PC.
Early 2026 came and went with no GTA 6 on PC. That’s why we keep saying Rockstar’s Newswire is the final word, even when a report sounds well connected.
How long did Rockstar’s last games take to reach PC?
GTA IV took 217 days to reach PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 took 375 days and GTA V took 574 days, counted from each game’s console launch. Every one of those gaps is longer than seven months, which is why KitGuru’s headline called a first-quarter 2027 PC release much sooner than expected.
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap | The same gap after November 19, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | 217 days | June 24, 2027 | ||
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 375 days | November 29, 2027 | ||
| GTA V | 574 days | June 15, 2028 | ||
| GTA 6 (GamesBeat report, not confirmed) | January to March 2027 | 43 to 132 days | Not applicable |
The last column is plain arithmetic: we added each game’s day count to November 19, 2026. It shows the scale, and it isn’t a forecast. GamesBeat’s January-to-March 2027 window would land 43 to 132 days after launch, shorter than any of the three gaps in our table. Rockstar could do that, because nothing says a past gap has to repeat, but it would be a clear break from these three launches.
Did Rockstar’s own PC dates ever move?
Yes, even official PC dates moved. Engadget’s Jessica Conditt reported on February 24, 2015, that GTA V’s PC version went from January 27 to March 24 and then to April 14, 2015. Engadget’s James Ransom-Wiley reported on October 30, 2008, that GTA IV on PC moved from November 18 to December 2. So when an official date can slip by weeks, a date from anonymous sources deserves a little extra patience.
Is a GTA 6 PC version guaranteed?
No, nothing official guarantees a GTA 6 PC version, and Rockstar’s history shows how long “later” can be. The first Red Dead Redemption came out on consoles in 2010, and its Steam listing shows a PC release of , about 14 years later. GTA IV, GTA V and Zelnick’s comment about hit titles all point toward a PC version someday, but none of that is a promise.
What are the GTA 6 PC requirements?
There are no GTA 6 PC requirements yet, because Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version. Any spec list you find online is someone’s guess. The closest real clues are what Rockstar lists for its current PC games, and Rockstar’s up-to-212 GB console download for GTA 6.
| Game | Minimum graphics | Recommended graphics | Memory, minimum to recommended | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V Legacy | NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB or AMD HD 4870 1GB | NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB or AMD HD 7870 2GB | 4 GB to 8 GB | 125 GB |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB or AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB | 8 GB to 12 GB | 150 GB |
| GTA V Enhanced | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 or AMD Radeon RX 6400, 4GB of video memory | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, 8GB of video memory | 8 GB to 16 GB | 105 GB, SSD required |
Two things stand out in that table. GTA V Enhanced is the only game of the three whose Steam listing says SSD Required,
next to Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V Legacy. And GTA 6’s console download, at up to 212 GB, is bigger than any of their PC storage figures. A console download isn’t a PC install size, so don’t read that as a GTA 6 PC spec. It just shows the scale.
Should you upgrade your PC for GTA 6 now?
No, not for GTA 6 alone. Wait for Rockstar’s official list, because today any GTA 6 upgrade is a bet on numbers that don’t exist. If you’re short on room anyway, a fast 2 TB NVMe SSD on Amazon is the lowest-risk buy. That’s our reasoning, not Rockstar’s: all three games in our table ask for more than 100 GB, GTA V Enhanced requires an SSD, and the drive helps your current games either way.
Can you play GTA 6 on a PC at launch?
Not as a PC game. The only announced ways to play GTA 6 on November 19, 2026, are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you own one of those consoles, you may be able to stream your own console to your PC at home, but the console is still doing the work.
Little truth every PC player knows: sitting out a giant console launch takes real willpower, especially when the group chat lights up on launch night. Deep breaths — and maybe mute that chat.
Will GTA 6 stream to PC on Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Not according to Xbox. IBTimes UK’s Jericho Paradeza reported on October 7, 2026, that Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said on X that the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.
That followed a report in The Verge about exclusive streaming rights. IBTimes UK adds that The Verge’s Tom Warren then said GTA 6 will be on Xbox Cloud Gaming
while acknowledging the arrangement was more complicated, and that the scope of that support remains unclear. So don’t plan launch night around cloud streaming on a PC.
Can you use Remote Play to play GTA 6 on a PC?
Possibly, if you already own the console. Remote Play streams your own PS5 or Xbox to your PC, and the game still runs on the console, so it’s no help to a PC-only player. We found nothing from Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft about GTA 6 and Remote Play either way, so check once the game is out. Here’s what each console maker asks for:
- PS Remote Play
- a PS5 on a broadband network, the free PS Remote Play app, a DUALSHOCK 4, DualSense or DualSense Edge controller, and at least 5 Mbps internet (Sony recommends at least 15 Mbps)
- Xbox remote play
- an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One with remote features turned on, a PC on Windows 10 or 11 (version 22H2 or later), a Microsoft account with an Xbox profile, and 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection with 10 Mbps down
Which console should a PC player buy for GTA 6?
Any PS5 or Xbox Series console plays GTA 6, so the choice comes down to your friends and your storage. Here’s exactly which consoles play GTA 6, what’s officially different on PS5 Pro and how GTA 6 fits on an Xbox Series S. Rockstar’s page carries a Plays best on PlayStation 5
badge and points to PlayStation’s site for the details.
A DualSense controller also carries over if a PC version ever arrives. PlayStation says the DualSense connects to Windows 10 (64 bit) and Windows 11 over Bluetooth or USB, though controller support may vary depending on the game.
Will GTA 6 be on Steam or the Epic Games Store?
Nothing has been announced, because there’s no GTA 6 PC version to sell yet. We searched Steam’s store for Grand Theft Auto VI on , and the only result was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — The Definitive Edition. There was no GTA 6 page.
Rockstar’s past PC launches give a clue about stores, not a promise. GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb reported on October 4, 2019, that Red Dead Redemption 2 would launch on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store on November 5, with Steam waiting until December. Its Steam listing shows . GTA V Enhanced is on Steam too, dated .
Is there a GTA 6 PC download?
No. There’s no real GTA 6 PC download, because there’s no PC version, so anything offering one is fake and some of these files are dangerous. Security firm Huntress published an analysis of one fake installer on .
Help Net Security’s Sinisa Markovic reported on September 10, 2026, that the file, gta6installer.exe inside a disk image, drops the NJRAT and DCRAT remote-access tools, the Mercurial Grabber password stealer and a Chaos ransomware variant used as a wiper, which destroys files instead of holding them for ransom. Huntress’s advice is plain: Generally speaking, it’s not a good idea to attempt to download cracked, pirated software, especially if the game in question has not yet been released.
What should PC players do while they wait?
PC players should pick a path now: buy a console for launch, or wait and dodge spoilers. Neither is wrong, and both get easier with a plan.
- Want to play in November? Start with the GTA 6 release times for your time zone and how preloading works, because preload opens on .
- Happy to wait? Hold off on upgrades until Rockstar posts real requirements, and mute GTA 6 words on your social feeds so nobody spoils the story.
- Watch the official news. Rockstar’s Newswire comes first. Take-Two’s investor page lists its next earnings call for , at 9:30 PM UTC, which is 4:30 PM Eastern. Nobody has promised PC news there, but it’s the next time Zelnick takes questions from analysts.
Keep your drivers fresh, keep your hands off any GTA 6 for PC
download, and keep an eye on Rockstar’s Newswire — the moment your mouse and keyboard get an invitation to Leonida, that’s where it’ll show up.

Questions and answers
Will GTA 6 be on PC at launch?
No. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version or a PC date.
Why is GTA 6 not on PC?
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Bloomberg that Rockstar always starts on console
and that a release like this is judged by serving its core audience, as VICE reported on May 4, 2026. Asked whether Sony’s PS5 marketing deal played a part, he said no.
Can my PC run GTA 6?
Nobody can say yet, because Rockstar hasn’t published GTA 6 PC requirements, so any can-you-run-it check is a guess. For scale, GTA V Enhanced’s Steam listing recommends an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT with 8GB of video memory, plus 16 GB of RAM.
Is GTA 6 on Steam?
No. Rockstar hasn’t announced a Steam version, and our search of Steam’s store on November 5, 2026, found no GTA 6 page. Any site selling a GTA 6 Steam key today isn’t selling the real game.
Is GTA 6 cross platform?
We found no crossplay announcement for GTA 6. An analyst asked on Take-Two’s May 21, 2026 earnings call whether the game has any chance of being cross platform,
and Strauss Zelnick’s answer in the Motley Fool transcript didn’t address it.
